I finally bought myself an original NES off eBay. Really excited about this vintage classic. I was a big Nintendo fan as a kid, but I never actually got to own one when they were in stores.

The console came with:

2 original controllers
The original duck hunt light gun
and 8 games:

• Super Mario bros/duck hunt/world class track meet with sleeve and manual
• Wizards and Warriors
• Milton’s Secret Castle
• Kid Icarus
• Mickey Mousecapade
• NES Open Golf
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
• Skate or Die

The total cost: $40!

First thing I did was play Super Mario (of course), which unfortunately turned out to be the only game that works. The rest of them get the notorious “red blinking light of death” which, after digging around online, could mean 2 things: either the 72 pin connector is worn out, or the cartridges are dirty.

My next project is to open up the NES and take a look around, clean the carts and see if I can get the games all working.
