One of my fondest memories I have as a kid was skipping out on homework to play my Amstrad CPC 464. The tape drive, the long loading times; those were the days.
Well, you can imagine how happy I was to find out that homebew developer Zx had successfully released an Amstrad CPC 464 emulator for the PSP.
PSPCAP32 is a full featured emulator that faithfully immitates the CPC464, CPC664, and CPC6128 models. And because it’s for the PSP, you can carry it around with you everywhere. Amstrad in your pocket!
For all you Amstrad fans, I’m going to be reviewing all the games I used to play right here on this blog!! So stay tuned for that…..
Another great box set that I own was released by Palm Pictures and showcases the work of some of the most creative music video directors. The first of 2 box sets features the work of Spike Jonze, Chris Cunningham, and Michel Gondry. These guys have turned their music videos into an art form, and have put out, in my opinion, some of the best music videos out there.
Great music, great videos, and a ton of cool behind-the-scenes features and audio commentary. Perfect for a bit of creative inspiration.
Here is a classic by Michel Gondry for the song “Let Forever Be” by the Chemical Brothers.
There is no doubt that Blizzard is famous for their great video games, but they’re also known for putting out some of the most spectacular video game cinematics out there. The detail they put into the models, textures and animation had set the bar pretty high at a time when 3D was a fairly young industry.
Back in 2002, they put a box set together of their greatest cinematics from Diablo 2, Starcraft, and Warcraft 3. I own a copy of the box set and you don’t have to be a video games fan to appreciate it. I only hope they release another one soon; they’ve got a lot of new stuff out there.
I’ll try and find a clip to post, but in the mean time, here are some screenshots:
Originally, I had thought this video was created by MK12 since it was very similar to a short they made called Machobox. It turns out this little video was done by a student at SCAD. If you know the name of the creator, please send it over so I can give credit. Although it’s clearly taking a page right out of MK12, it’s still well done, and still worth checking out.
This is an old video now, but a classic in my opinion. When this came out, it got a lot of attention from the animation community. Even today it’s still a great piece of work.
One of the most well designed videos out there. It’s old now, but still solid. When I stumbled upon it almost 6 years ago, it blew my mind and still continues to inspire me.
